High RTP slots: what 96.95% actually means

1. It is a long-run average. Across an enormous number of spins, Mahjong Ways 2 is built to return about ₱96.95 of every ₱100 staked.
2. The rest is the house margin. At 96.95% that margin is 3.05%; at 96.71% it is 3.29%.
3. It says nothing about tonight. Half an hour of play routinely ends well over or well under that figure.

What it is. Two things complicate any RTP list: a studio that prints nothing, and studios that ship more than one version.

1. JILI. Its pages give Boxing King, Fortune Gems, Golden Empire, Super Ace and every other title a top multiple and a swing rating, yet no return figure. Record it as not published.

2. Aggregator numbers. Outside sites have quoted figures for a single JILI game that sit two whole points apart, and not one of them came from JILI.

3. Several versions. Gates of Olympus, a Pragmatic Play slot, can be set by the operator to 96.50%, 95.51% or 94.50%; the studio advertises just the top one.

4. Where PG prints it. PG Soft prints the percentage on its title pages, past the age check, for both Mahjong Ways games, for Wild Bandito and for Lucky Neko. The Wild Bounty Showdown and Treasures of Aztec numbers are taken from PG’s released game data instead.
